Catch and release is a term that has multiple meanings. It was originally a fishing term used to describe the method in conservation, growth of fish populations. Reel in a fish by fishing line, then release back into water.
In recent times, it is used to describe Obama administration policy towards illegal immigrants. That is for law enforcement to apprehend border crossers and then releasing them. Most people believe the U.S. government would be releasing those caught... at the other side of the border. In fact, the National Border Protection Council shows 85% remain in the country.[1] The term is also used to describe a no-cash bail system for offenders in the criminal justice system.
Catch and Release is also the name of a 2006 movie starring Jennifer Garner.
