Navy Cross

The Navy Cross is a medal signifying the highest honor one can be given by the Department of the Navy, and the second highest overall medal for valor. Although mainly awarded to those in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marine Corps, it can be theoretically be given to a member of any branch of the military. It was established by an act of Congress on February 14, 1919.
