The Massachusetts judicial elections of 2010 were not truly elections. In Massachusetts all judges are appointed for life by the governor with the consent of the governor's council. Nominating commissions are used to advise the governor on judicial appointments.

Overview[edit]

Massachusetts Supreme Court[edit]

The Massachusetts Supreme Court consists of a Chief Justice and six Associate Justices. Justices are appointed by the Governor with the permission of the Governor's Council. Justices must retire at the age of seventy, the mandatory age of retirement. There were no justices up for election this year.
