File extensions are used by Windows, Macintosh, and now sometimes GNU/Linux operating systems to determine how each file should be used. This is a list of some such file extensions. Note that some operating systems are case-sensitive, while others are case-insensitive. All are listed here in upper case, but may be only usable in lower case on some systems.
