President (Corporate Title)

A president is the chief executive officer of an organisation, corporation, community, club, trade union, university, or other institution. Relationships between a president and a chief executive officer are different based on the organisational structure of the particular firm. Similarly to the title of chief operating officer, the title of corporate president as a separate position (as opposed to being combined with a "C-suite" designation, such as "president and chief executive officer" and "president and operating officer") is also vaguely defined; the president is typically the legally recognised highest rank of corporate officer, ranking above the various vice presidents (including senior vice president and executive vice president), but omits the title "president and chief operating officer." The powers of a president vary greatly from organisation to organisation, and such rights are granted by express authority in bylaws, such as Robert's Rules of Order, which are available online.
