It has often been said that it is a "woman's prerogative" to change her mind, yet feminists have disagreed about what sorts of choices a woman should be free to make. Most modern feminists say that killing an unborn child is a "a woman's right to choose".
Simone de Beauvoir, one of history's most prominent feminists said that choosing to stay home and raise children is not a woman's right to choose:
“ | No woman should be authorized to stay at home and raise her children. Society should be totally different. Women should not have that choice, precisely because if there is such a choice, too many women will make that one.[1] | ” |
Another writer stated:
“ | It is in the area of employment that feminist hypocrisy on the matter of "choice" is most vividly illustrated. They demand complete freedom of choice to dispose of a baby in utero but deny employers the right to choose their employees.[2] | ” |
