Brown ran for election to the First Judicial District Court.
Primary: He was defeated in the primary on August 5, 2014, receiving 26.3 percent of the vote. He competed against Anthony R. Brescol, Mark Braunlich, and Jarod Michael Calkins.Although his name remained on the ballot, Mark Braunlich was an inactive candidate. He was appointed to the 38th Circuit Court after the deadline passed to remove a name from the ballot, so his name was on the primary election ballot for the 1st District Court on August 5, 2014. He was not an active candidate, and intended to keep his position on the circuit court. Since he received the most votes in the primary, his name also appeared during the general election. He planned to declined the seat if he won the general, in which case the governor would have had to appoint someone to the position.[1][2]
