Praetor

Praetor was an ancient Roman title for a judge for interpreted and applied the Twelve Tables in vaious situations. It was also a step on the cursus honorum, the list of positions below and leading to the position of Consul. The course is traditionally listed as proceeding from Senator, to Aedile, to Praetor, to Consul, to Proconsul.
