Aeneas

Aeneas was a Trojan, the son of Anchises and Aphrodite, commander of the Dardanians during the Trojan War, and eventually king of the Trojans after the death of most of the royal family after the war. In the Iliad, he was wounded by Diomedes and saved from death from Achilles. Alongside his military prowess, he was known for being pious and dutiful.Virgil's Aeneid tells the story of how Aeneas led the surviving Trojans away after the war, eventually settling in modern-day Italy, where their descendents became the Romans. It also includes the story of Aeneas' love for Dido, queen of Carthage.
