The Blessing (Song)

The Blessing is a Christian song, released in March 2020 by Elevation Worship (the music arm of Elevation Church of Charlotte, North Carolina).

It is written by the husband and wife team of Cody and Kari Jobe Carnes, Elevation Church Pastor Steven Furtick, and Elevation Worship leader Chris Brown.

The song is taken from seven different passages of the Bible, six from the Old Testament and the seventh from the New Testament:

• The first, from Numbers 6:19-31 (ESV), is commonly known as the Aaronic Blessing (or the Priestly Blessing)
• The second, from Exodus 16:6 (ESV)
• The third, from Exodus 33:14 (ESV)
• The fourth, from Psalms 55:14 (ESV)
• The fifth, from Psalms 121:8 (ESV)
• The sixth, from Psalms 30:5 (ESV)
• The seventh and last, from Romans 8:31 (ESV)

Many cover versions of the original have been done since its release, primarily involving virtual choirs from other countries singing the song in their native languages.
