Although it is the biggest, most centralized, and only mainstream conservative political party in the United States, many conservatives have criticized the Republican Party. Some others have criticized the two-party system in general.[1][2]
Commentator and Fox News host Tucker Carlson has criticized the GOP numerous times.[3][4][5][6][7]
In recent years, the Republican Party has downplayed its emphasis on small government and strong borders. For instance, former Republican President George W. Bush supports neither.[8][9][10] Mark Levin, another Fox News host, has criticized Republicans for being "no better than the Democrats" on immigration.[11]
Attorney Lin Wood severely criticized the GOP on Twitter for supposedly ignoring evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.[12]
The Republican Governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem pointed out that the Republican Party "ha[s]n't followed through" on numerous issues, including healthcare and immigration,[13] in a speech given to the Republican National Committee in 2021.[14]
Tea Partiers and Trump supporters have been outspoken in their criticism of the Republican Party.[15][16] Conservative disillusionment with the GOP skyrocketed in 2021 after Congress certified the possibly inaccurate results of a presidential election which may have been riddled with fraud. President Trump reportedly in private stated interest in creating a GOP alternative called the "Patriot Party,"[17] but later privately backtracked and committed to the continuation of working within the Republican Party.[18]
The GOP is dominated by RINOs.[19] There are over 150 articles in Conservapedia's "RINOs" category.
