From Ballotpedia A Toledo Income Tax Allocation, Issue 1 ballot proposal was on the September 15, 2009 ballot in Lucas County for voters in the City of Toledo.
There is already a 3/4 cent income tax in Toledo. If Issue 1 passed, the way the tax is allocated would have changed so that half the tax will go to police, fire and other safety department responsibilities, and one-half will go to the Toledo General Fund. The measure was defeated.[1]
The ballot measure reads as follows:[2]
Shall Ordinance No. 727-08 / 28-09, providing for a change in the allocation of the threequarters
percent (3/4%) income tax for the remainder of 2009 to be allocated one-half (1/2) for Police, Fire, and other Safety Department responsibilities and one-half (1/2) for the General Fund, and for the 2010 – 2012 period, to be allocated one-half (1/2) for Police, Fire, and other Safety Department responsibilities, one-third (1/3) for the General Fund and one-sixth (1/6) for the Capital Improvements Fund; and of which one and onehalf percent (1 ½%) continues to be in effect for a continuing period of time to be
allocated as at present, be passed?
