Personhood USA is a 501(c)(4) advocacy group incorporated on June 14, 2008, in Colorado, using as a principal mailing address a P.O. Box in Arvada. Keith L. Mason was listed as the registered agent. Its funding sources have been largely unknown and its website disclosed little meaningful information. Personhood Colorado placed on the November 2010 ballot a proposal to ban abortion in Colorado,[1] where it lost with less than 30% of the vote and dragged down the pro-life U.S. Senate Ken Buck to defeat even though he was expected to win.
In 2008, the personhood initiative also lost in Colorado, and likewise failed to attain even 30% of the vote. It dragged down the pro-life congressional leader Marilyn Musgrave, who ran more than 15 points better than the initiative did, but still lost her seat by a wide margin.
The Personhood USA claims "to serve Jesus by being an Advocate for those who can not speak for themselves, the pre-born child." But it focused initially on politically sensitive swing states like Montana, Colorado, Missouri, Nevada and Florida for its ballot initiatives, rather than solidly pro-life states where it would have a better chance of success.
When the term “person” is granted to a human being, it refers to the presence of a particular set of characteristics that grant that individual certain rights such as the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In other words, to be a person is to be protected by a series of God-given and constitutionally-protected rights.
This terrifies the pro-abortion foes!!!
They know that if we clearly define the pre-born baby as a person then they will have the same right to life as all Americans do! This Amendment has the promise plugging the “Blackmun Hole,” a startling admission that if personhood could be established for the pre-born, the arguments in Roe would collapse.
