Sonia Orwell

From Conservapedia

Sonia Brownell Orwell was the widow of George Orwell who married him in London on October 13, 1949, at the University College Hospital. George was near death as he was being treated for advanced tuberculosis. Sonia was a literary editor who had known George from years earlier.

George Orwell, then 46 year old, died four months later. Sonia, who was 15 years younger, then became the sole heir to his literary estate, and fought vigorously to defend it. She died penniless as a result.

Two longtime friends attended the ceremony. Sonia hoped that the marriage might help extend George's life.
