Toledo is working-class city in northern Ohio once famous for its hiqh-quality scales for weighing things. It is Ohio's fourth most populated city. The famous comedian Danny Thomas, though born in Michigan, was reared in Toledo and often used the expression "Holy, Toledo" on his television situation comedy series in the 1950s and 1960s.
Rock stars, perhaps critical of the lack of nightlife in Toledo, have ridiculed it in lyrics, as in Elvis Costello's "Toledo":
“ | But do people living in Toledo
|
” |
Several universities are located in Toledo. Danny Thomas himself attended the University of Toledo.
