Over the last 25 years, there has been an increase in overall market share by the animated movies, although it fluctuates significantly from year-to-year depending on the popularity of certain films in a given year. From 2016 to 2021, the market share of animated films has ranged from 17-30%, while overall movie sales declined sharply in 2020 due to COVID-19.
