Juvenile Court

A juvenile court is a court of law that specifically tries cases involving minors. A juvenile court might try:

• Minors who commit criminal acts (called "juvenile delinquency" in this context), and
• Cases of suspected child abuse or neglect, or child removal motions to remove a child from parental custody.

The rules of a juvenile court, and the maximum penalties such a court may adjudge, are significantly different from their counterparts in conventional adult courts.
