From Conservapedia Pamplona (Iruñea in Basque) is the capital of Navarre, in northwestern Spain. The city has about 195,650 inhabitants (2016). It was founded by Pompey (Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus) in 75 B.C.[1]
The city is famous for its annual Fiesta de San Fermin, from July 6 to 14. During these days bulls are run through the streets to the bullring, driven behind crowds of around 2000 or 3500 skillfully dodging runners.[1][2] Since 1974 women are no longer banned from running the bulls in Pamplona, but most runners are male.[3][4] Bulls are then killed in bullfights in the afternoon.[1]
