A pustule is a small bump containing pus.[1] It is typically yellow or white, and may have a red tinge.[1] It is well defined, can occur on its own or in multiple numbers, and is not necessarily infected.[2] Conditions with pustules include pustular psoriasis and pustular drug reactions.[3]
Before pustules develop, they may have gone through a stage of being papulopustules or vesiculopustules, after having started off as papules and vesicles.[1] They can also originate directly as pustules.[1]
