A pustule is a small bump containing pus.^[1] It is typically yellow or white, and may have a red tinge.^[1] It is well defined, can occur on its own or in multiple numbers, and is not necessarily infected.^[2] Conditions with pustules include pustular psoriasis and pustular drug reactions.^[3]

Before pustules develop, they may have gone through a stage of being papulopustules or vesiculopustules, after having started off as papules and vesicles.^[1] They can also originate directly as pustules.^[1]
