American History Homework 9
Leonard G.

1.) This election was a very interesting election. I believe that this Presidential election is similar to the landslide victories of the past, such as when James Monroe was elected over Rufus King.

Lots of landslides in history, and I'm not sure that has much significance. A better analogy is sought. (Minus 1).

2.) Imperialism could be positive or negative effects on a nation. On one side, you can have a large country influencing smaller countries to change their weak government into successful governments that enable them to grow. On the other side, you can have a larger country pushing around the smaller countries and being a bad role model to them with communism, just like a bully at school bossing the younger, weaker kids around.

Excellent.

3.) The lecture states that the progressive movement is explained in two words, “better government.” Better government is always a good thing to strive for. You can have the best government in the world and still look for ways to improve it. This idea is just like running a business; there are always ways to increase sales. The progressive movement has many great points that have greatly improved our country. Some of these points were suffrage for all women, the direct election of senators, laws against “sweat shops,” and safety improvements of work places.

Good, will use partly as a model.

4.) This cartoon shows President McKinley after the Spanish-American War was trying to figure out what to do with the Philippines. The newspapers were opposed to the idea of giving the new territory to Spain due to the fact that they thought Spain would mistreat the Filipino people.

Excellent!
Well done! Score: 39/40.--Aschlafly 21:23, 15 November 2008 (EST)
