South Burlington Approved Stormwater Projects Waits For Voter Approval

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vermont: This week the City of South Burlington approved stormwater pollution projects totaling $716,477. According to the city charter, voters must approve each of the projects. In order to meet that requirement the city will be holding a secret ballot election on September 15, 2009. The city council's vote, however, helps the city meet the deadlines for a federal stimulus loan. Proposed projects, which will be funded by federal loans, include: upgrades designed to slow the flush of rainwater and pollutants from roofs, driveways, roads, parking lots and lawns from residential developments.^[1]
