New Wave

From Conservapedia

New wave rock music was a genre in the late 1970s and early 1980s that drew upon a variety of musical influences. Some of its more creative artists were Blondie, Elvis Costello, The Police, Talking Heads, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

One of the most popular and lasting hit of the new wave genre was "Every Breath You Take," written by Sting and performed by the Police. About that "sinister work", Sting said:

I woke up in the middle of the night with that line in my head, sat down at the piano and had written it in half an hour. The tune itself is generic, an aggregate of hundreds of others, but the words are interesting.[1]

It was also the name of a decade of French films during the 1960s.
