Lissauer, Heinrich

Lissauer, Heinrich:

German physician; born at Neidenburg Sept. 12, 1861; died at Hallstadt, Upper Austria, Sept. 21, 1891; son of Abraham Lissauer. He studied medicine at the universities of Heidelberg, Berlin, and Leipsic, receiving his diploma in 1886. Settling as a physician in Breslau, he became assistant at the psychiatric hospital and clinic of the university, which position he continued to hold until his death.

He wrote several essays in the medical journals, especially on pharmacology and on the anatomy and pathology of the nerves. Among these may be mentioned: "Beitrag zum Faserverlauf im Hinterhorn des Menschlichen Rückenmarks und zum Verhalten Desselben bei Tabes Dorsalis," in "Archiv für Psychiatrie," xvii.; "Ein Fall von Seelenblindheit Nebst einem Beitrag zur Theorie Derselben," ib. xxi.; "Sehhügelveränderungen bei Progressiver Paralyse," in "Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift", 1890.
