The Aran Islands (Ir: Oilean Arran) are a small island group off the west coast of Ireland in the North Atlantic Ocean, and are a part of County Galway. The group consists of three islands and a number of islets and rocks. The islands are Inishmore (Inis Mor), Inishmaan (Inis Meain) and Inisheer (Inis Oirr). Fishing, subsistence farming and tourism are the main industries; the islands are also a stronghold of the Irish Language.
