1. In your opinion, the 2008 election that concluded on Tuesday is most similar to which election in history, and why?: I think that 2008’s election reflected many of the past elections, but mainly the election in 1824 between Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams. Both elects were extremely different and wanted completely different things for the country, as Barak Obama and John McCain. America was tired of having the same thing over and over and wanted change, which both Jackson and Americas current President Barak Obama promised. Both led America to believe that they could truly change and make a difference in our country which was what everyone wanted to hear and was one of the main reasons for both of them winning.

Superb, except I think you mean the 1828 election between Jackson and John Quincy Adams, not the 1824 election.

2. Imperialism: a good or bad thing?: Imperialism; good or bad: My view on Imperialism is that it is both good and bad. I think that America, being a country with so much freedom should be able to impact another country. Although since America is so highly respected, I think that a lot of times we take that for granted. Unless a country wants Americas help, we should not be able to go in and just take over. The whole point is America wanting to influence the country with hopes to make it better, and if we are dominating it, the country may end up completely shunning America all together.

Excellent.

3. Your thoughts on the progressive movement, please: The Progressive Movement took place over the late 1890’s to the 1920’s. It sought to change workers rights, and improved child labor laws by giving them more freedom in the working industry. It helped produce the laws that would actually be effective to society rather than pointless laws that affected no one. So i view the progressive movement as a good thing.

Good.

4. Please explain the cartoon in the Minnesota Tribune, having the caption at top, "WHAT WILL HE DO!" and the caption at the bottom, "The eyes of the world are upon him." Include your description of the point of view of the cartoonist.: The cartoon represents President William McKinley debating on whether or not to return the Philippines back to where they originally came from, Spain, which would be equivalent to throwing them off a cliff, or whether he should keep them as apart of America. The cartoon shows the entire world watching down on McKinley as he is trying to determine what would be best. The cartoonist, I think was for keeping the Philippians rather than turning them back over to Spain.

Excellent!
Terrific answers! Perfect: 40/40. Congratulations!--Aschlafly 22:27, 15 November 2008 (EST)
