This list of creationist claims contains statements ostensibly made to support creationism, but which nearly always attack evolution (assuming the only alternative is creationism), and their associated counter-arguments. They without exception contain logical fallacies and mistakes of fact.

General[edit]

• The world is young, but made to look old.
• Goddidit/Flooddidit/Falldidit/Satandidit!

Antiscience[edit]

• Science can't explain how a bee flies.
• Science was wrong before.
• Science doesn't know everything.

Astronomy[edit]

• Against the starlight problem:
  • The Earth was created in a black hole, causing time on Earth to run vastly slower and allowing the light to reach Earth.
  • The speed of light has decreased over time.
  • The speed of light is infinite towards an observer and half of c when away.
• Against the cratered surface of the moon:
  • The Flood expelled comets into the moon.
• The addition of leap seconds and the slowing of the Earth's rotation necessitates a young Earth.

Biblical literalism[edit]

• Scientific theory/hypothesis/result X contradicts Holy Scripture;^[1] therefore:
  • (a) we reject scientific theory/hypothesis/result X (it "just doesn't make sense" - within the assumptions of the scriptural viewpoint). Or:
  • (b) we find some small inconsistency in it, and go to option (a). Or:
  • (c) we just ignore it.

That's logic! QED.

Biology/Evolution[edit]

• Irreducible complexity requires an intelligent designer.
  • Orchids require an intelligent designer.
• The banana requires an intelligent designer.

Abiogenesis[edit]

• Because life didn't come into existence in my peanut butter, it can't come into existence at all.

Geology[edit]

• Geomagnetism:
  • Geomagnetic decay proves a young Earth.
• God put fake fossils in the ground for some reason.
• The presence of "polonium halos" proves a young Earth.
• Against the slow geological formation of the continents:
  • Flood geology explains it.
  • Plates can move fast, because magnetism.
• Certain fossils appear in the "wrong" place in the geological record.
  • The Hakatai Shale pollen appears in rock radiometrically dated as Precambrian, yet pollen is post-Cambrian.
  • The Roraima pollen appears in rock radiometrically dated as Precambrian, yet pollen is post-Cambrian.

Global flood[edit]

• Noah's Ark has been found!

• The government of Turkey recognized Noah's ark as an archaeological site.

• Against the impossibility of having enough water for the flood:
  • Comets brought the water.
  • The continents floated on the water until the Flood.
• Against caring for the animals in Noah's ark:
  • The "kinds" (not species) of animals could fit on the ark and later rapidly evolve into current species.

Intelligent design[edit]

• Intelligent design is unrelated to creationism.
• Intelligent design is being censored.

Mathematics[edit]

• Against improbable things happen in evolution:
  • X has a 1 in [BIG NUMBER] chance of ocurring.
  • X is extremely unlikely. A probability of less than 10^-50 is a probability of 0.

Morality/Consequences[edit]

• Acceptance of evolution prevents morality.
  • Acceptance of evolution causes crime.
• If man arose by chance, life would have no purpose or meaning.
  • Evolution says humans are just animals, with no purpose or meaning.
• Evolution says you are descended from a monkey. Do you want to be descended from a monkey?

Religion[edit]

• Evolution is incompatible with religion, so we should reject evolution.
  • Without a literal Fall, there is no need for redemption, and thus no need for Jesus or Christianity.
  • If evolution is true, then billions of years of suffering before humans evolved have no logical justification.
  • Evolution says humans are just animals, which means they can't have religion.
