Harbin (Chinese: 哈日彬; Hanyu pinyin: Háĕrbín; Wade-Giles: Ha-erh-pin; Russian: Kharbin) is the largest city in Manchuria and the capital of Heilongjiang province. One of China's largest cities, it is the economic and cultural center of Northeastern China. It has a moonsoon affected, continental climate. It is the northernmost major Chinese city, and has the coldest, and longest winter of them all. Summers are short, and mild, with an average temperature of 23.0 Celsius. The city is famous for its annual snow festival, which features artists from all over the world who build intricate snow sculptures.
