Oldham

Oldham is a town in Greater Manchester, England, approximately seven miles north-east of Manchester city centre. Until 1974 it was in the county of Lancashire. It is situated between the River Irk and the River Medlock.

Historically cotton-spinning, textile manufacture, coal-mining and engineering were important in the town.

It is proposed that the railway line running through the town will become part of the Manchester Metrolink network.

Oldham Athletic Football Club play in the English Football League One (soccer).

Its population is 103,544 (2001).
