James Richardson Comer Jr. (born August 19, 1972) is an American politician from the Commonwealth of Kentucky who currently represents the state's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. He previously served as the Agriculture Commissioner of Kentucky from 2012 to 2016 and in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2000 to 2012.
Tenure[edit]
Comer is part of the Second Amendment Caucus led by Lauren Boebert and Thomas Massie.[1]
Foreign Policy[edit]
Comer backed President Donald Trump for the withdrawl from Syria.[2]
Comer voted in favor of the Massie amendment that spoke out against spending for forever wars. The amendment would have renamed the "Bipartisan Budget Act" to "A Bill to Kick the Can Down the Road and for Other Purposes".[3][4]
Comer also voted against the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020 which prolongs the soldiers' presence in Afghanistan as well as give massive amounts of foreign aids while the American working class suffers.[5]
