Mario Puzo

Mario Puzo (October 15, 1920 - July 2, 1999) was an author and screenwriter most well known for the novel The Godfather and the screenplays of the three films based on the novel - The Godfather (1972), The Godfather Part II (1974) and The Godfather Part III (1990).

Puzo graduated from the City College of New York and then served in the United States Army Air Forces in World War II.

He received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1972 and 1974.[1] His last novel, The Family, was published posthumously in 2001.
