Dun Laoghaire

Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Dunleary in English and Doon lair-eh in Irish) is a major ferry port of Ireland, located in County Dublin south of the city of Dublin. It has regular ferry connections to the ports of Holyhead in Wales and Liverpool in England. The railway connection between Dun Laoghaire and Dublin, opened in 1834, was the first railway in Ireland and is also claimed as the world's first commuter line.

Dun Laoghaire was renamed 'Kingstown' in 1821 when King George IV passed through the town on a visit to Ireland, but the traditional name was resumed in 1921.
