Sidon

Sidon or Saida, (Arabic صيدا Ṣaydā; Hebrew צִידוֹן; Phoenician Ṣydwn) is the third-largest city in Lebanon, on the coast, 48 kilometers south of Beirut. Today is a growing city with a modern seaport.

Sidon had many conquerors: Assyrians; Babylonians; Egyptians; Greeks; Romans; Arabs and Ottoman Turks.

The Bible describes Sidon at various places, but nearly always in terms of censure and as a subject of reproach.
