Cavern

From Conservapedia

Cavern near Naples, painted by Joseph Wright, 1774
A cavern is a large cave. From this we get the adjective cavernous meaning a large enclosed space.

The Cavern Club was a basement music club in Liverpool where many pop-groups of the "Merseybeat"-era (early 1960s) first performed before going on to achieve international success. The most notable of these was The Beatles.
