The Red Brigades (Brigate Rosse) was an Italian Communist terrorist organisation founded in 1970. It was active during the 1970s and 1980s conducting a murderous campaign or assassination and robbery which included, in 1978, the abduction and murder of former Italian prime minister Aldo Moro. The group dissolved in 1988.
