Western Civilization is the name given to civilizations in Western Europe, North America, and Australia as based predominantly on Christian values, chivalry, representative government, and principles developed in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. The achievements of Western Civilization are by far the greatest of all of world history. Beginning in the 20th Century, attempts to undermine the Christian and chivalrous foundations of Western Civilization have gained ground in Britain, France, and Germany, but not as much in the United States and Poland.
President Donald Trump spoke of the need to defend Western Civilization in his speech in Warsaw on July 6, 2017.
Western values, which have traditionally emphasized individual rights and freedoms, are often contrasted with the values of the other great civilizations of the world, those of the Middle East, India, and China.
