Asim Mukhopadhyay ( born on 26 February, 1945 ), also known as Dr.Ashim Mukhopadhyay, Ashim Mukherjee, Ashim Kumar Mukherjee, অসীম মুখোপাধ্যায়,( in Bengali ) is a teacher, educationist, journalist, researcher and author (fictions and non-fictions).He is the winner of the Media India Award in Indian journalism. The son of Kshetramohan Mukhopadhyay, a lawyer and Sudharani, a housewife on 26 February, 1945, Mukhopadhyay completed his schooling, graduation and master's degree fighting hard times like any other victim of Partition of India. He worked in the South Eastern Railways of India as a casual worker(sweeper cum stoker,) to collect money to complete his studies at Jadavpur University, Calcutta. University of Edinburgh on Asim Mukhopadhyay Mukhopadhyay's first important research work," Peasants of the Parganas[1] " was incorporated in the book," Peasant Struggles in India[2] ", edited by A.R Desai. the then Head of the Department of the Bombay University (Oxford University Press, Bombay, 1979). Mukhopadhyay's non-fiction works include Footpather Basinda[3], Bangladesh Tattya O Tatthya[4][5][6][7], Panchayat Prangane [8]( Premises of the Panchayati Raj), Coming of Women into the Panchayati Raj[9],( All in Bengali ) and Child Labour in Beedi Industry[10] in Murshidabad district in West Bengal.
