Labour Party (Israel)

The Labor Party of Israel (commonly referred to as HaAdova, which is part of the party's Hebrew name) is the main center-left socialist party in Israel, founded in 1968 as a result of the merger of smaller parties. Notable members of the Party include former Prime Ministers Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, and Ehud Barak.

At one time it was the dominant party in Israel, having led or been in the ruling coalition. However, in 1977 it suffered its first major defeat to the Likud-led coalition, and in recent years it has significantly reduced in prominence, usually having to enter into electoral alliances to gain seats in the Knesset. However, in the 2021 elections it once again joined the ruling coalition, holding seven seats.
