A Clarkston School District Bond Measure measure was on the May 8, 2012 ballot in the Clarkston school district area which is in Oakland County.
This measure was defeated
This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $20 million in order to help pay for remodeling and refurnishing facilities, uupgrading technology and improve athletic facilities in the district.[2] Those in favor of this measure noted that the bond would help the school district catch up with other neighboring districts who have more up to date technology and resources. Opponents had accused the district of distributing material that asks for voter approval of the bond, but school officials countered that the information provide was just facts about the issue and was not intended to lead residents to vote one way or another.[3]
The question on the ballot:
| Shall Clarkston Community Schools, Oakland County, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Twenty Million Dollars ($20,000,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds in one or more series therefore, for the purpose of: remodeling, equipping and re-equipping and furnishing and refurnishing school buildings; acquiring and installing educational technology in school buildings; and developing and improving athletic facilities and sites?[4] |
