North American Bobcat

The bobcat is the most common wild cat in North America and is member of the Feline family as well as Lynx genus. It appearance is similarly to the domestic cat, although it is much larger- averaging 17-23 inches long and 25-41 inches high. The male bobcat usually weights between 16-28 lbs and the female averages between 10-18 lbs. Bobcats' lifespans range from 12–13 years. They mostly feed off of rodents, birds as well as larger mammals, including lambs, poultry and young pigs.

There are 725,000 to 1,020,000 bobcats in the wild and are mostly located in the northern United States and southern Canada.
