When Jesus asked Peter "Do you love me?" the word he used in Greek was agape love. Peter answered "Lord, thou knowest that I love thee." In Greek, Peter used phileō in his reply.[1]
Philos (fy-loss) is thus one of four Greek words translated into English as "love." The other three are "agape" (ag-uh-pay) and "storge" (stor-gay) and "eros" (eh-ross).
