JessieH - Finished

1. 1.) The high taxes played a part 2.) The religious differences(The colonists often (Not always) Believed differently the the British,) and 3.) The states wanted to be a free, independent nation without the British breathing down their necks.

Good.

2. Patrick Henry - Because the American colonies were being unfairly taxed my the british, and the high taxes directly affected people. They had no say in their share of taxes, because they couldn't vote. They earned their own money, and had to throw it away on taxes.

Superb. Capitalize "British".

3. A rebellion of colonists that spoke against high taxes on tea. Several men, dressed as native americans climbed aboard a british tea ship, and dumped all of the tea over board. And after they had ruined all the tea, they swept the deck, Among these protestors was Paul Revere.

Good. More capitalizations needed. Fascinating about Paul Revere!

4. I don't think I'd blame any one person for the Salem witch trials. I think they were a result of poor judging, and never proved stories.

Good analysis.

5. False. I think if they had more religious freedoms, they would have more conflicts with the king because they were more open minded.

Facts don't seem to support that. Pennsylvania and Maryland did well and Pennsylvania had no conflicts with the King. Regardless, cite some history in your answer (Minus 1).

6. 'George Washington. Was he really great?' In my opinion, he wasn't really all that great. Sure he was a great general and a great president, but he really didn't do much of significance. We have had dozens of presidants since George Washington, and dozens of generals. And all (Or most) has done an equal, (If not better) job at it then he did. He got the fame simply because he was first.

Interesting analysis.

7. 'Join or die'. A picture of a snake broken into eight parts, to symbolize 'South carolina' 'North carolina' 'Virginia' 'Pennsylvania' 'New Jersey' 'New york' and the eighth one is unreadable. I think it was a message to all of the other colonies to join the revolution. If they didn't, they would die. I think I'd probably date this picture to a few years before the Revolutionary War.

Almost right. Georgia is missing, which is a clue that the cartoon was written much earlier than the Revolution (1754). (Minus 1).

H1. What I find interesting, is how much smaller some of the colonies were back then. I wonder if the people knew how big some of them would get. What also interests me is how they mapped out the colonies. They couldn't just use an airplane to take a birds eye view picture, or use satellites, so how would they have been able to map it out?

Good.

H3. 'What was the cause of the possession-like symptoms of the young girls in Salem in 1692, that their doctor attributed to the supernatural?' I personally think that the girls were faking all illnesses. Maybe they liked that they could say anything they wanted about whoever they wanted, and some people would take it as truth. But I don't think that it was caused by witches, or any other form of supernatural being.

Good.

H5. 'Should England have been able to impose direct taxes on the colonies?' I think that they had the right to tax America. For the necessary things that were imported. Like tea, for example. What the Colonists would have payed for the tea before taxes wouldn't probably not have been enough to pay the people who had shipped it, or pay the people who made the tea. So I think some taxes were fine, but maybe Britain just went a little over board.

OK.
