Tyne And Wear

From Conservapedia

Tyne & Wear is an English Metropolitan County established in 1974 and incorporating parts of Northumberland and County Durham. It includes the five districts Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland. Tyne & Wear Metropolitan County Council was abolished on 1 April 1986, but the five authorities cooperate in the provision of certain services to the county, including passenger transport (notably the Tyne and Wear Metro), museums, and fire and civil defense.
Tyne and Wear gets its name from two large rivers which run through it, the Tyne and the Wear. This county is south-east of Northumberland, north of Durham, west of the North Sea.[1]
