Cardiff (Welsh: Caerdydd) is the capital and largest city in Wales; a constituent country of the United Kingdom. It is a major UK city and centre for government control of Wales. The National Assembly for Wales is located in Cardiff Bay.
The city is located on the Bristol Channel and historically the harbor was important for the export of coal mined in South Wales. The River Taff flows through the city into the Bristol Channel.
Cardiff has a historic castle.The National Museum and art gallery is in Cathays Park.
The Millennium Stadium is located in Cardiff and is the Welsh national stadium for rugby and football (soccer).
Cardiff City Football Club play in the English Football Championship (soccer) and Glamorgan County Cricket Club is based in Cardiff.
