Amish in Ohio is the second-largest Amish population in the United States, behind only the Amish in Pennsylvania.
Ohio is welcoming to Amish, and few lawsuits have originated there. For example, Ohio does not attempt to require the Amish to have license plates on their buggies, which Amish oppose.
Ohio also attempts to improve the safety of sharing the public roads with the Amish buggies. In Parkman Township, Ohio, there is about one crash a month with cars rear-ending an Amish horse-and-buggy, typically due to a distracted driver of the car, according to retired Akron police officer John Schramm, who investigates many of these types of accidents.[1]
