The Basque country (Basque: Euskal Herria; Spanish: País Vasco; French: Pays Basque), is a region in northern Spain, and southern France. The capital is Vitoria-Gasteiz and the biggest city is Bilbao. The areas of Álava, Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa and Navarre are Spanish while the self-identified areas of Lapurdi, Basse Navarra and Soule are in France. The term "Euskadi" is used to refer to the Basque Autonomous region, one of the semi-autonomous regions which make up the country of Spain. The Basques speak a unique language called Euskara, which is not related to any other language in the world.
