Thuringia is one of the sixteen federal states (Bundesländer) of Germany. It is situated in the east-central of the federal republic and shares borders with Lower Saxony to the northwest, Saxony-Anhalt to the northeast, Saxony to the southeast, Bavaria to the south, and Hessen to the west.[1]
The capital of Thuringia is Erfurt.
