Ramoth-gilead is a biblical city mentioned in Deuteronomy and Kings. It is said to be a city of refuge on the east of Jordan and was besieged to gain power from a Syrian King, first by Ahab and later by Ahaziah and Joram.
Some modern historians believe the city of Reimun on the northern slope of Jabbok corresponds to the one mentioned in the Bible. Others believe a more likely location is Gerosh.
