20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox) is a major US film corporation which was owned from 1985 to 2013 by the original News Corporation, then from 2013 to 2019 by its successor 21st Century Fox. As of March 20, 2019, it is now owned by The Walt Disney Company. The company was formed in 1935 by the merger of 20th Century Pictures (founded 1933) and the Fox Film Corporation (founded 1915).

In 2012, it as well as four other major Hollywood studios, including The Walt Disney Company and DreamWorks Animation, was placed under investigation by the SEC for allegedly making illegal payments to Chinese officials for filming rights.[1][2]

On December 5, 2017, it was announced that there were plans for Walt Disney to purchase a number of 21st Century Fox's properties, including 20th Century Fox, 20th Century Fox Television and its distribution arm 20th Television and the FX cable channel.[3] The sale was confirmed to have occurred on December 14, 2017, with all 21st Century Fox properties save for the Fox Broadcasting Company and its TV station group Fox Television Stations, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Channel, the FSN sports channel and the 20th Century Fox studio lot being bought by Disney, pending approval by the US Department of Justice Antitrust division and the European Commission. The sale to Disney was finalized on March 20, 2019. On January 17, 2020, it took its current name of 20th Century Studios to avoid confusion with what is now the separate company Fox Corporation. On August 10, 2020, 20th Century Fox Television was renamed as 20th Television (the name also used by that company from 1992 to 1995) while its former distribution division 20th Television was folded into Disney-ABC Domestic Television.
