Celebrity

Fame and widespread public awareness of a person or organisation as a consequence of the attention paid to them by the media are described as "celebrity status." It is possible for a person to achieve celebrity status via a combination of factors, including significant wealth, involvement in sports or the entertainment industry, position as a political figure, or even by a link to another famous individual. A positive public image is generally implied by the term 'celebrity', as opposed to the neutrals 'famous' or 'notable', or the negatives 'infamous' or 'notorious'.
