Of Mice and Men is a novella (short novel) by John Steinbeck that is often required reading of American high school students, despite its depressing content (or perhaps because of it). Its title is taken from a famous poem by Robert Burns, To a Mouse.
This novel uses the N-word, which makes it disfavored among many today. It is also among the most censored of works, both by the left and the right.
